i and some fellow former bandfolk stood and watched a group by the name of Squonk Opera perform. And I was, well, Hey, five-eight? seven-four? piano? accordions? some fanciful-looking, multi-barreled woodwind instrument? ridifuckingdiculous costuming? a guy who looks suspiciously like a thinner, greener-wearing santa claus? hemiolas?
Sign me up.
The two albums I have now seem sort of hit-or-miss, but most pieces have some nice musical tricks ticking away beneath those combed cakebomb shields. Some of these seem sort of like a cross between ELP's Toccata and .. mm, I don't know. A lamp. I love lamp.
