talking about language(s) is fun. also, there is no word for 'kitten' in korean? :(. Harbert sent me and Recipient List Suppressed a blurb on Ling (Engl) 347--Topics in the History of English (Topic: Early Middle English as a Linguistic Watershed). it looks shiny :( and i want to take it but i have too many classes and arr :(
...syntactic differences such as the loss of verb-final order, the loss of postverbal subjects, the development of do-support and a category of modals which is syntactically distinct from other verbs, changes in the syntax of passive and 'impersonal' constructions and so on...
and also the "hey i understand those words and ideas" and hay language.

there are doublemany frowning faces in this entry, but they're, uh, vaguely manic frowns?. i'm sleepy.

I thought at first that the Gothic course looked more shiny. Then I remembered the catastrophic silly translation and concluded that it was really the "Harbert" that made it seem shiny, or something to that effect...

*sleeps, maybe*

Recipient List Suppressed really gets a lot of emails, doesn't he (she?).

I was thinking about taking that, especially since Harbert's teaching it, but I think it would be smarter to try and fit in...um...a writing seminar. * coughs *

You say that as though Harbert never teaches writing seminars. :p

Huh, I'll be. Yeah, "small cat", though whether that's different from how Chinese does it 小猫/xiǎo māo is uh partially arguable I guess? Really it's more like one word though. I'm kinda surprised they didn't do sogoyangi (Sino-Korean word for small+Korean for cat) or similar like the Japanese word. No matter.

Dude stop having cool classes.
