i think it's time to declare the "[x] is love" meme to be out of hand when i stumble across an original 'marriage is love' and think, "hey, that's a weird one" a second before memory kicks in.

When does something stop being a reference to one thing and becomes instead a self-perpetuating reference to itself? (words are like that. remember the "terrist" thing?.) memes flop around and fold into their own gummy cathedrals, locking out the original architect. I suppose that's why I don't get hung up on the whole 'intellectual property' nonsense. the individual is built through a conceptual metametropolis, regurgitates a few flying buttresses (if it's lucky), and melts to fraily, worm-eager mud. names do stick around sometimes, and folk seem to hold that to be a lofty goal-- indeed, there is an appellatory orgy, with people wishing their names to be carved into rocks and monuments and road signs and cookie brands and battleship maneuvres. but [with the exception of gravestones?] the name ceases to identify the individual but rather the named entity. L'Hospital is not a person to me. [...],... this is largely bullshit, and I'm wasting time. so I'll go waste time elsehow.
